(Yes, that is meant to rhyme) On this beautiful snow day, I wanted to share with you some gift ideas for brides! As I’m writing, I’m also planning some events for my best friend and favorite person, who happens to be a soon-to-be bride! She was my Maid of Honor Continue Reading
Anybody else going to LOTS of weddings this year? I know how it is… you’re thrilled for your friends, obviously, but you’re also wondering how you’re going to afford all those wedding gifts. I came up with some gift ideas for those soon-to-be-wed friends of yours, and all of them can be found at Target for less than $50! You can shop by clicking on the links in the graphic above, or from the notes below. Happy shopping!
Google Home Mini- You all know the Stanleys love our Google Homes. Your friends and family will love this tiny piece of technology which serves as a speaker, controller, and firing board for all of life’s weird questions.
Moscow Mule Mugs- Whether your newlywed friends drinking Moscow Mules or they just love the look of these cool copper mugs, these will be a staple in their home!
Sheet Set- You can still get a nice sheet set for your friends without splurging too much! This queen sized sheet set comes in at only $47.49, so grab them while they’re still on sale!
Fabric Steamer- A fabric steamer is a must for most women, and this one is only $39.99! If you know your friends have received almost only kitchen items, they will appreciate something for their closet.
Plush Bath Rug- I definitely underestimated how much I would love our bathroom rug. This super cute rug is soft and absorbent!
Calphalon Stainless Steel Dutch Oven- Dutch ovens are fantastic if you’re friends love cooking stews, soups, or even bread!
Acacia Serving Bowl- I couldn’t make a gift guide without including something from Hearth and Home, so this gorgeous serving bowl is the perfect fit. This $34.99 is amazing for serving salads, rolls, and anything else you can think of!
Kitchenaid Hand Mixer- As much as you’d love to buy your friends a stand mixer all on your own, sometimes this just isn’t feasible! Make sure they have a light and easy hand mixer in addition to the large-bowled mixer. These even come in 10 different colors!
Cream Throw Pillow- Your friends likely registered for all of the home basics, so why not help them out a little with some decor like this simple pillow?
Acacia and Marble Cake Stand- Whether your friends bake a cake from scratch weekly, or they go for a store brought cake once a year, make sure they have a beautiful cake stand for when the time comes! This stand also ties in with the Hearth and Hand serving bowl, if you want to go in with a friend!

4 years ago today, a sweet and nervous John showed up at my door to take me on our first date. We ate at Niffer’s (an Auburn classic), watched a movie (Gravity, I think), and enjoyed getting to know each other better. We had met at the Auburn BCM Beach Continue Reading

We landed in Atlanta after a torturous last travel day of our honeymoon consisting of missed flights, and extreme delays. We got to the car only to see that it was dead (just look up “dead battery on an electric car” to understand our confusion). And just minutes into our Continue Reading
August 5, 2017 was the best day of our lives thus far. We held hands, spoke our vows, cried a little, and left as husband and wife. We feel so blessed by the beautiful day that we got to spend with our family and friends. We had planned our honeymoon Continue Reading
Renting tables… china or plastic… why are centerpieces so expensive? In the past 9 months of wedding planning, I’ve considered all of these things. I’m currently planning my August wedding, and I wanted to share some of the most helpful websites, stores, and features that are making this wedding planning Continue Reading
We were so excited to do our engagement session with Kelsey Kemp of Kelsey Dawn Photography, who will be shooting our wedding in August! We were a little nervous to start, but Kelsey made us feel comfortable and we ended up having fun. You can see in the pictures that Continue Reading
Yesterday, John and I made a trip to Montgomery for a few hours. I haven’t been able to show him around the area where I’m now working so I planned a special date for us! First, we headed to Winton Blount Cultural Park (where the Walk I’m planning for NAMI Alabama will be held in September) to look around. We were excited to try out our new Sony A6000 camera with the kit lens and a Sony e-mount 55-210mm lens (which we used for most of the pictures). We walked around some and took photos before making an unexpected pit-stop at work to help with something. We then drove through downtown and walked down to Riverwalk and around the city a little. Of course, we ended the day with an ice cream cone and a stop at Best Buy (John’s request).
This is our favorite in terms of detail. We love mallards!
We had a great time messing with the new camera and looking at the beautiful birds and views at Blount Park. Enjoy these photos we took (amateur, but we still like them) and let us know what you like to do in Montgomery, AL! Hint: click on the photos to look through each individually.
