I’ve never been a particularly stylish person. I tend to choose comfortable, simple clothing and few accessories. I wear the same earrings everyday for months at a time and I have far too many dark gray, navy, and black tops. Working for a big online women’s retailer has impacted me in more ways than one, but one of the main ways is how it makes me think about my appearance and what it says about me. I want to look confident, open, and comfortable with myself, not like I am hiding (which is truthfully how I’ve spent most of my life dressing). I genuinely have avoided cute outfits in my closet at times because I don’t want to draw attention to myself. In 2018, I want my clothing and accessories to portray both who I am and who I want to be. Dress for success. Dress to love yourself. Dress confidently, not to hide.

Now, I’m not saying wearing lots of black or dark colors means you are hiding. You know whether your clothing makes you feel less present, and I believe this looks different for different people. For me, wearing leggings too often (and trust me, they are amazing), means I’m not putting myself out there in the way I personally want to be seen. When I am more confident, I wear jeans more often. Think about how what you wear changes how you feel about yourself. Do you feel more positive on a day where you put on makeup and fixed your hair? Maybe you feel more confident in casual, athletic clothing. Find what makes your attitude and outlook more positive and try to incorporate that into your outfits more often. The following are some things that I personally want to focus on in 2018.

Be comfortable

To me, comfort is very important. I want to find cute, yet comfy items that will allow me to get through the day without being miserable. A few too many tight pants have kept me from enjoying a day of work, and I don’t want that to continue. I will invest in great quality items that I know I wouldn’t mind wearing on a long day.

Start fresh

Another goal for this year is to find some new staples that will change how I feel about my closet and my most common looks. I want to have some new go-to’s that are super versatile and that I feel confident in. This cute peplum top is one of my new everyday options! It pairs so well with any kind of cardigan or jacket, and it looks fantastic with a fun statement necklace!

Be Unique

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I want to be unique. I want to have pieces that make me feel like myself. I want items that I love and get excited about. I want to find a cool piece at a thrift store or get a crazy deal on something I’ve never seen before! I want to be proud of everything I own and not buy something just to buy it.

My most recent obsession is this beautiful and definitely unique Jord watch. This watch, the Jord Frankie, makes me feel cooler than I probably am. This zebrawood watch and the many other men’s and women’s watches on their website can also be engraved, making them an excellent gift idea!

I’m super excited to announce that I am partnering with Jord to do a $100 giveaway for one of their watches! The contest ends this Sunday, March 25, at midnight. Make sure to enter below to have a chance of winning!

In addition to entering the giveaway, make sure to check out their website to see more timeless, unique watches like mine! Which watch would you buy if you are the lucky winner? Can’t wait to see who it will be! 🙂

Disclosure: This post was sponsored by JORD and I was gifted this complimentary watch for the review. No other compensation was given and all thoughts about the product are my own.
